Alumnus Curates Ice Hockey Exhibit

POTSDAM — The Potsdam Public Museum is featuring three new exhibits as part of its Holiday Open House in December

The main exhibit will feature the history of ice skating and ice hockey in the north country.

Steven Hayes, a Clarkson University graduate and Potsdam Public Museum volunteer, is one of the guest curators on the exhibit.

“I’ve been a fan my whole life,” he said. “I was already volunteering here (at the museum) and when they said they were going to do an ice skating exhibit, it was easy for me to help.”

Hockey and ice skating equipment has been borrowed from Clarkson’s Cheel Arena and the village’s public skating rink, as well as from area residents’ personal collections.

“We have a bunch of hockey items, both from recently and from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s,” Mr. Hayes said.
